What Are Crystal Bowls?

Crystal bowls are among the most powerful healing instruments of sacred sound. Based upon the concept of the ancient Tibetan singing bowls (made out of various metals such as gold, silver, copper and brass), the crystal bowls calm the mind and assist us in integrating our consciousness at the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels.

Each crystal bowl is made of 98.9% silicon dioxide, also known as "quartz". Quartz is found all over the world and only the purest sources are used in the manufacturing process. Quartz (silicon dioxide) is the most common mineral found in the earth.

To create a quartz crystal bowl, finely ground sand is dropped into a centrifugal spinning mold. In the center of that mold an electric arc torch is ignited to approximately 4000 degrees centigrade. This process integrates the individual particles of sand into an amorphous unified whole, which goes from being crystalline in nature to being amorphous (glass) in nature. This process is known as "quartz fusion". The result is a synthesized form of absolute timbre that is able to send out a tone that can be heard as far as 2000 feet away.
